Thingys to do

1. Read CCC Chapter/Article 1, Paragraphs 27-67
Very very important. We all want to understand what Fr Luke's referring to.

2. Bring a journal for next session
Very very very important. If you don't understand Fr after you've read Article 1, taking notes will help you to see everything more clearly because you're rephrasing what you hear into sentences that you understand at a glance. This is coming from the one who gave you the session on study habits, so LISTEN!

3. All those who don't have a CCC (Catechism of the Catholic Church), you need to get one. If they need a CCC, inform Andre or e-mail Youth Cat e-mail (if you don't have Andre's contact number) by Tuesday 24 Feb, latest. This book is extremely instrumental to your formation as youth catechists. Really really. So if you don't have one, please tell Andre immediately. If you're worried about not being able to afford it, also do speak to Andre and we'll work something out.

Thank you very much. :)

Homework Before The Next Session

Hello!

Please be reminded to read CCC Article 1, paragraphs 27-67 before our next session with Father Luke.

"The desire for God is written in the human heart..." to "... base themselves on such 'revelations'."

It is pages 14-23 of the 1st edition of the CCC.

For those who do not have the book, the article can be read on the world wide web at the following addresses:
1. http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/p1s1c1.htm
2. http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/p1s1c2a1.htm

See you all at the next session!

Postcards from Paul...

by Walk on Water Productions!

15 November
FREE!

What we have to do: Set up a booth in front of the church, walk around and tell people to get their FREE tickets for this production! The booth will only be for 1st/2nd Nov, and 8th/9th Nov.

"Postcards from Paul is an inventive look at one of the most complex characters in the Catholic tradition. He was a wolf who ate the lambs of the first Church but became a great shepherd. Paul was a man who worked for his keep and preached the good news. Paul was a man capable of both old testament wrath and child like tenderness. Who was this man? Postcards from Paul attempts to reveal more about this great character by building on his writing and imagining what his life must have been like."

For more information, please visit http://www.calmtheseas.com/whatson.htm.

IMPORTANT!

Get back to Rene asap about whether
1. you want tickets to this fabulous production by a reputable group, and
2. whether you can help out for the booths. They'll be the usual - before and after masses on Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks and see you for the Theology of Body talk!

Christmas Play

Hi all!

There will be a Christmas Play this year.

If you're interested in helping out, please let us know.

You don't have to be able to act/sing/dance to be in a play. There are lots of other things you can do.

Rehearsals are on Saturday nights BUT if you can't commit on Saturdays or if you're afraid you can't commit at all rehearsals, don't worry. We'll try to work around your schedule. As long as you're willing to participate or help out, however big or small, it's enough. (:

The play itself will be on 27th December.

So please consider. And if you're interested, give your names to Rene.

Thanks!

Good luck to those having exams!

PRE 9 and Teacher's Day

PRE 9 took place from 28th-31st August 2008.

About 2 days before the start of PRE 9, I was thinking, “What did I get myself into?” It is a rare chance that I get weekends free nowadays and this was one weekend that I had free but I had to attend the PRE. So yes, I admit that I was sceptical about it. I didn’t want to go. However, the day before the 28th, I decided to go with an open mind. I was glad I made that decision.

It is in going with an open mind that I could benefit from the experience of PRE. I can honestly say that it has had an impact on me. It made me realise that I really can’t say that I’m Catholic if I choose to fly solo in my religion. It is not about me but about the people around me. It really is about community. Also, through the PRE, I realised that I’m not alone in my struggles in life and in my Faith. Everyone has struggles, pains and sufferings in life but the important thing is that, in a community, we have each other to rely on and to fall back on during the rough times in life. It was reassuring to know that I’m not alone.

The PRE has also made me realise what a vibrant parish community we have. The parishioners here are filled with the willingness to spread the love they have in their hearts and to give of their time. This really showed itself during the PRE as everyone had genuine smiles on their faces, warm greetings and the willingness to serve without expecting anything in return. It was a humbling experience and it was great to know that there were so many people willing to sacrifice their time and put in so much effort to pull everything together for the participants.

Before the PRE, I was, in all honesty, feeling tired and drained. I was living life day by day and lost the zest and lust for life, for awhile. I felt that I was doing things for the sake of doing them but I wasn’t really putting my whole heart into it. Doing things, therefore, lost its meaning and perhaps life lost meaning to me for awhile. Attending the PRE changed this. I, now, feel that I have been recharged and life doesn’t seem to drag on as much as it used to. Perhaps, it will take awhile for life to have its full meaning for me again but I’m getting there.

If you want to really know how I felt, I suggest attending the PRE. Go with an open mind and heart and you’ll never know what you might get out of it. (:
